THE REAL PROBLEM

A full-size CPAP with its humidifier weighs around a kilo and a half, needs its own power brick, and eats half the suitcase before anything else goes in. Add that the tub has to be emptied before you travel, that security will ask for it separately, and that the hotel socket is always on the wrong side of the bed. Anyone who lives with it knows the result: weekends and holidays become the nights without the machine.

The M1 Mini is a full AutoCPAP, not a reduced version of one: it covers the whole 4 to 20 hPa range, it has three-level RESlex exhalation relief, and an auto ramp that senses when you fall asleep. Humidification runs through an HME filter — no tub, no water. And because the connector is the standard 22 mm, there is nothing else to buy to make your mask fit.

In practice

Before first use
The device is supplied with the pressure setting prescribed for you. Do not change the pressure or the mode yourself — if something is not right, speak to your doctor first.

Filters
Check the dust filter regularly and replace it when it is soiled. The HME filter is a consumable and is replaced about once a month, sooner in a dusty environment.

Cleaning
Wash the tube in warm water with a mild detergent and dry it away from sunlight. Wipe the device externally with a slightly damp cloth, always unplugged. No bleach, alcohol or solvents.

Travel
It runs on 100 to 240 V, so a plug adapter is enough — no voltage converter needed. There is no water tub.

Frequently asked questions
Will the mask I already have fit?
Yes. The M1 Mini ends in a standard 22 mm connector — the same one every CPAP mask on the market uses, whether nasal, pillows or full face, from any manufacturer. No special circuit and no adapter. This is worth checking, because it is not true of every travel CPAP: some use a closed connection system of their own, where each mask needs its own kit. If you change mask next year, on the M1 Mini you simply screw it on.
How does humidification work without water?
Through an HME filter — a small heat and moisture exchanger that sits between the mask and the tube. It holds the warmth and moisture of your breath out and returns them on the next breath in. There is no tub, no heater plate and no water to spill inside your case. BMC offers two grades: HU for normal conditions and HU-Plus for drier air. In a very dry climate, or a winter room with the radiators on, a heated tub humidifier delivers more moisture — the M1 Mini will take an external humidifier, but then you lose the size advantage.
Does it have a battery? Will it run in a car or while camping?
There is no built-in battery. It runs from mains power, 100 to 240 V, so it travels anywhere with a plain plug adapter — no voltage converter needed. For a car or a boat there is an optional DC converter. For camping off-grid you need an external power station; size it from the device input of 19 V / 1.26 A, and ask us before you buy a battery.
Can I take it on a plane?
CPAP devices are generally accepted as medical equipment in hand luggage and usually do not count towards your baggage allowance — but the rule belongs to each airline, not to the manufacturer, so ask them before you travel. To use it during the flight most airlines require prior approval and a doctor's letter. Two practical notes: the M1 Mini has no water tub, so it does not complicate the liquids check, and it is worth carrying a photo of your prescription.
Can it replace my main machine?
Technically it is a full AutoCPAP: it covers the whole 4 to 20 hPa range, it has RESlex exhalation relief and auto ramp, so it is not a reduced therapy. But it is built for travel: no screen, no heated tub humidifier, and HME humidification delivers less than a conventional humidifier. Your pressure and your device type are set by your doctor — if you are thinking of making this your main machine, discuss it with them first.
There is no screen. Where do I see what it is doing?
Everything runs through the BMC LightTrip app, free for iOS and Android, connecting over Bluetooth. From there you turn the device on and off, change settings, see usage hours, AHI and leak, and produce a report to send to your doctor. The same app handles firmware updates. On the device itself there is a single button, for start and stop.
