The immediate risk of the spread of the coronavirus accelerated the need for full electronic prescribing. As of 23/03/2020, the Dematerialized Prescription System of the Social Security Administration (EDIKA) was put into partial operation, thus, for the first time, the possibility of reissuing prescriptions in the Electronic Prescription System for chronically ill patients was given.
As of 10/02/2021, Physical Prescription came into full force and now treating physicians can reissue monthly or recurring prescriptions (up to three repetitions of fixed medication regimens) that chronically ill patients receive remotely.
Traumacare, an official provider of EOPYY, supplies you with most of the materials you are entitled to, at no cost and directly to your door.

This is the process of reissuing prescriptions with Physical Prescription for chronic sufferers
Before anything else, it is necessary to register for the Physical Prescription. Every patient, chronic or not, must activate the Physical Prescription, stating the mobile phone number and email address to which they wish to receive the prescribed medications and test referrals electronically.
- The patient can now request a reissue of their prescription from the doctor via telephone, SMS, email or fax. This means that no visit to the doctor's office is required.
- The doctor enters the chronically ill patient's monthly or recurring prescription into the system, without printing it or completing any accompanying documents for the prescription.
- Once the doctor registers the prescription, the patient is automatically notified of its issuance via SMS or email or both. In both cases, at least the prescription code (barcode) and its validity period will be included.
- These electronic prescriptions for chronically ill patients are mandatorily executed through the Physical Prescription system , based on the prescription code and of course, without requiring any physical form. The pharmacist or the official provider of EOPYY retrieves the physical prescription through eprescription , using the prescription code or the patient's AMKA and delivers or sends the prescribed medicines or materials.
- Once the prescription is executed, the citizen will receive a relevant information message via SMS or email containing the execution details of his prescription.
For the receipt of medicines or materials by beneficiaries of care, i.e. first and second degree relatives as well as third authorized persons , in addition to the code of the intangible prescription, they must always present the necessary identification documents (identity and VAT number) to the pharmacy or EOPYY provider of their choice. In addition, third parties will also need the completed solemn declaration that makes them responsible for receiving the prescription.
