Description
ConvaTec Aquacel Ag Foam, in the adhesive version, is a sterile Hydrofiber™ foam dressing: a waterproof polyurethane outer film, a polyurethane foam layer and a Hydrofiber™ wound contact layer with 1.2% ionic silver, with a silicone adhesive border. According to the manufacturer's instructions, it is a primary dressing for the management of exuding acute and chronic wounds which are at risk of infection or show signs of infection, with the direction of a healthcare professional. The box holds 5 dressings of 21x21 cm.

Basic safe-use tips
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use. For example:
- The type and size of dressing, and how often it is changed, are decided by the doctor or nurse who looks after the wound.
- Do not use it if the sterile packaging is open or damaged, or after the expiry date.
- Single use, according to the manufacturer.
- It is water resistant, but should not be submerged during bathing or swimming.
- It is not compatible with oil-based products.
- The manufacturer states that there are very limited data on prolonged and repeated use of silver-containing products, particularly in children and neonates.
- Silver-containing products may cause skin discoloration after prolonged use, often temporary.
- Store at room temperature (10–25 °C), keep dry and protect from light.
- Contraindication in the manufacturer's instructions: not to be used on people who are sensitive to, or have had an allergic reaction to, the dressing or its components.
- According to the manufacturer's instructions, it is not compatible with oxidising agents such as hydrogen peroxide or hypochlorite solutions.
