B Braun Prontosan Wound Gel 30mL Amorphous Liquid Gel with Polyexanide and Betaine
Prontosan® Wound Gel is a ready-to-use gel containing 0.1% Polyhexanide (preservative), Betaine (surfactant), Glycerol (moisturizer) and Hydroxyethylcellulose (gel) in water for the purpose of cleaning, disinfecting and moisturizing acid and chronic wounds such as ulcers (diabetic, venous, bedsores). It does not inhibit granulation and epithelization. It cleans, moisturizes the wounds and prevents the creation of the biofilm as well as the reduction of the bacterial load.
How is Prontosan Wound GEL used?
Prontosan Wound Gel is used in combination with Prontosan Wound Irrigation Solution. Apply Prontosan Wound Gel Fluid to the wound to extend the antimicrobial action of the solution for up to 72 hours. Prontosan Wound Gel Fluid is used adjunctively with the aim of slowly eliciting the polyexanide so that the wound surface is clean.
For small wounds apply a 3-4 mm thick layer of Prontosan Wound Gel and cover with a bandage. For application to deep wounds, wound cavities and hard-to-reach areas, apply a 3-5 mm layer of Prontosan Wound Gel and cover with a bandage.
When is Prontosan Wound GEL used?
It comes in a 30g tube and is very thick. Ideal for small wounds, deep wounds, all burns up to 2nd degree and wounds that do not require large amounts of GEL.
More specifically, it can be used for cleaning, moisturizing and disinfecting skin wounds and burns and in:
- Traumatic wounds.
- Thermal injuries.
- Chemical injuries.
- Injuries caused by radiation.
- Ulcers.

LIFETIME: 36 months
STABILITY: Can be used up to 8 weeks after first opening.
Helpful tips:
All wounds should first be flushed and cleaned with Prontosan Wound Irrigation Solution so that the Prontosan Wound Gel remains on the wound until the next dressing change. This helps to have a long-lasting effect.
