THE REAL PROBLEM
The commode chair never leaves the corridor.
Commode wheelchairs are built for three metres of hallway: small 4 to 6 inch castors that turn neatly in a bathroom and jam everywhere else. At the first threshold, on broken pavement, on a gravel path, the carer lifts the front end by hand. So the hospital appointment gets solved with a second chair — or it does not get solved at all, and the user stays indoors.

Medium wheels on a commode chair
The rear wheels are 12 inches and the front ones 8 inches, all solid — no punctures, no pump. The U-shaped pan stays, the armrests fold down for a lateral transfer from the bed, and the footrests detach. One chair instead of two: toileting indoors, mobility outdoors.

Frequently asked questions
Will it fit through the bathroom door?
The overall width is 62 cm, which makes it the widest commode wheelchair we stock. Typical bathroom door openings are 60 to 70 cm, so in older flats it may not fit or may pass only just. Measure the clear opening of your own door before ordering. If it comes out under 65 cm, look at models 0805453 or 0805454 instead, which are 53 cm wide overall.
How is it different from your other commode wheelchairs?
The wheels. Our other models run on small 4 to 6 inch castors and are built for moving around indoors. The AEGEUS has 12 inch rear wheels and 8 inch front wheels, so it rolls over uneven pavement, thresholds and a garden path. In practice it replaces two chairs: one for the bathroom and one for going out.
Does it have attendant brakes on the handles?
No. MOBIAK states this explicitly in the specifications: attendant brakes, no. The parking brakes sit on the rear wheels and the carer bends down to engage them. It is worth knowing in advance, because on a downhill slope the carer holds the chair with their hands alone. If your route has a gradient, ask us for a model with handle brakes.
Can it be taken into the shower?
No. The frame is steel, and constant exposure to water and soap wears it down over time. The AEGEUS is used as a toilet seat and for transport, not inside the shower cubicle. If you need a chair that goes into the shower, look at the ASPER, code 0805454, which has an aluminium frame and is stated by MOBIAK as suitable for shower use.
How much weight does it take, how heavy is it and does it fold?
The maximum user weight is 125 kg. The chair itself weighs 17 kg with the footrests and 16 kg without them, because the frame is steel. It folds on a single cross brace and fits in a car boot, but at 17 kg it is not easily carried up stairs by one person. If weight is the deciding factor, look at the aluminium models.
Is a sideways transfer from the bed possible, and what warranty is there?
Yes. The armrests fold down, so a carer can slide the user sideways from the mattress onto the seat without lifting them. The footrests are detachable and swing away with adjustable height, clearing the space in front when the user stands. The warranty is two years from the official MOBIAK distributor, with CE marking and EAN-13 code 5213016040853.
